Heritage
A house, in its own words
Luca Gritti descends from a noble Venetian family whose roots stretch back to the 16th-century spice trade that made Venice a global center for rare ingredients. This lineage informed his understanding of perfume as both craft and cultural artifact. In 2009, Luca established the house in Venice, combining his scientific training with an intuitive approach to scent creation. As both founder and creative director, he develops each fragrance from concept to completion. The brand's coat of arms, an authentic family emblem, anchors every bottle in this distinguished heritage. Gritti draws from the city's layered history—its palaces, canals, festivals, and foggy winters—to create perfumes that feel like sensory memories rather than mere products. The house continues a family tradition that never truly disappeared, merely waited for the right moment to resurface. Luca Gritti set out to restore emotional perfumery—the idea that a fragrance should provoke feeling and recollection. He works alone, composing each scent from his own emotional vocabulary rather than market research. This self-taught perfumer treats each creation as a personal narrative, asking what memory or sensation the wearer might experience. The house resists trend-driven formulas, instead pursuing scents that feel timeless and intimate. Every fragrance exists because Luca wanted to capture a specific feeling. This approach keeps the collection deliberately focused, with each release carrying genuine artistic conviction rather than commercial calculation. The EXRAIT DE line represents the purest expression of this philosophy—maximum concentration for maximum emotional impact.
