Heritage
A house, in its own words
The story of Deraah Private begins with Sheikh Ali Bin Awad Al Hadi, whose early fascination with incense and garden herbs grew into a formal perfume venture. A video profile produced by a regional media outlet traces his journey from a small workshop in Riyadh to the launch of the first Deraah fragrance in 2017. That debut marked the brand’s entry into a market dominated by legacy houses, yet Deraah quickly distinguished itself through a private‑label model that invited collectors to co‑create. By 2019 the house introduced a bespoke service that paired clients with a dedicated perfumer to craft tailor‑made scents, a move documented on the Nottier platform. The following year, Deraah expanded distribution beyond Saudi Arabia, opening a flagship boutique in Dubai and establishing a modest export line to Europe. 2022 proved pivotal, with the release of Perfect Oud and Rich Leather, both of which received coverage in regional fragrance blogs for their nuanced use of oud and leather accords. In 2024 the brand unveiled a cluster of new releases—Rose Powder, Brown Vanilla, Royal Agar, Peony Jardin, Velvet Cotton and Nuit Tobacco—showcasing a broader palette that ranged from floral to gourmand. The most recent addition, Perfume 1976, arrived in 2025 as a nostalgic reinterpretation of a classic Arabian scent, confirming Deraah’s commitment to both heritage and innovation. Throughout its evolution, Deraah has remained a privately held company, reinvesting profits into ingredient sourcing and artisanal production facilities located in the United Arab Emirates. Deraah’s creative vision rests on the belief that fragrance should echo the wearer’s inner narrative. The brand states that each scent is conceived as a dialogue between memory and material, a principle that guides its selection of raw ingredients and its approach to formulation. Rather than chasing trends, Deraah prioritises authenticity, sourcing traditional Arabian notes such as agarwood, frankincense and rose while pairing them with modern synthetics that enhance longevity. The house emphasizes transparency; clients receive a brief on the origin of each component, from Bulgarian rose petals to Madagascan vanilla beans. Sustainability features in the brand’s values, with a preference for ethically harvested oud and a commitment to reducing waste through recyclable packaging. Deraah also encourages a collaborative process: during the bespoke service, clients discuss personal stories, preferred moods and even seasonal palettes, allowing the perfumer to translate those cues into a fragrance that feels uniquely theirs. This client‑centric ethos, documented in the Nottier interview, positions the house as a partner in scent creation rather than a distant manufacturer.
