A house, in its own words
Amoln was founded in Malmö, Sweden, in 2019 by Jonas and Aice Bergholm. The couple began with scented candles, building a distinctive catalog of matte blue vessels that became a recognizable signature. In 2022, the brand shifted into a new creative phase, expanding beyond home fragrance. By 2025, Amoln had entered the fine fragrance category with a substantial debut lineup, including Truffle Truffle, Otherness, Ballet, Camper Van, Toille, Sixth Scent, White Noise, and Newborn. This rapid move from candle maker to full perfumery reflects a deliberate evolution rooted in the founders' desire to explore scent as a broader artistic medium. The brand's Instagram presence credits perfumer Nejla Barbir, signaling a collaboration with an outside nose for its fragrance development. Though young, Amoln has positioned itself within the Scandinavian perfumery conversation through its consistent visual language and its willingness to release in volume rather than trickle out single launches. The name Amoln draws directly from moln, the Swedish word for cloud, and this single word carries the weight of the brand's creative vision. Clouds are ephemeral, ever-shifting, and impossible to pin down, qualities that Amoln seems to chase in its compositions rather than fixed categories like floral or oriental. The founders have spoken about the mythological and natural mystery of clouds as inspiration, framing fragrance as something atmospheric and emotional rather than decorative. Amoln's philosophy leans into restraint and atmosphere over statement-making. The candle line established this sensibility first, with scents designed to quietly transform a room, and the 2025 fragrance portfolio extends that sensibility to skin. Names like White Noise, Otherness, and Newborn suggest an interest in states of feeling and perception rather than literal notes or places, positioning each release as a mood or condition rather than a product.
