A house, in its own words
AEMIUM emerged in the niche fragrance landscape with a distinct mission that set it apart from conventional perfume houses. The brand was founded by Emmanuel Roche, whose vision centered on creating perfumery that answered contemporary environmental concerns without sacrificing artistic quality. While many fragrance houses speak about sustainability, AEMIUM distinguished itself by pursuing formal certification through ECOCERT, achieving COSMOS Natural and Organic status for its products. This certification requires rigorous adherence to standards governing ingredient sourcing, manufacturing processes, and environmental impact. The brand's collaboration with Robertet proved instrumental in bringing this vision to fruition. Robertet, established in Grasse, represents one of the oldest continuously operating perfume houses in the world, with roots extending back approximately 170 years. This partnership provided AEMIUM access to both traditional perfumery expertise and modern natural ingredient technologies. The house launched its initial collection of fragrances in 2021, including Silence Des Calanques, Hespereden, Blooming Summer, Elixiris, Rouge Confidence, Nova Espero, and Innocence In A Scent. Each release reflected the brand's commitment to working exclusively with natural materials while maintaining complexity and longevity in the compositions. Industry recognition followed quickly, with The Fragrance Foundation featuring Emmanuel Roche as a founder transforming the perfume industry toward greater responsibility in November 2020, and Premium Beauty News covering the brand's approach to redefining luxury through sustainable practices in the same period. The philosophy driving AEMIUM rests on a fundamental question the perfume industry has historically avoided: what if environmental responsibility were not an afterthought but the foundation of creative work? The brand answers this by building its entire operation around certified natural and organic standards, treating sustainability as a creative constraint that produces innovation rather than limitation. The house rejects the notion that natural perfumery must compromise on sophistication, instead arguing that working with real, traceable ingredients creates perfumes with greater authenticity and character. This approach manifests in complete transparency about ingredient origins and processing methods, allowing customers to understand exactly what they wear. The vegan and cruelty-free commitment extends beyond the final product to encompass supply chain considerations, ensuring that no animal-derived materials enter the process at any stage. AEMIUM views eco-design as an integral part of luxury rather than a departure from it, suggesting that true premium quality includes respect for the environmental systems that provide its raw materials. The brand's collaboration with Robertet reflects this philosophy, combining the historic house's 170 years of perfumery knowledge with AEMIUM's forward-looking environmental standards to create compositions that honor tradition while meeting contemporary ecological expectations.
