    Santiago Burgas Bou

Santiago Burgas Bou grew up in the Catalan town of Torroella de Montgrí, where the sea and pine forests shaped his early senses. He earned a degree in fashion design, then turned his eye to scent, enrolling at the Roure perfumery school. After a stint in New York, he returned to Spain and launched the Santi Burgas label in 2008. The debut collection introduced a stark, minimalist aesthetic that rejected conventional sweetness. Critics praised the brand’s raw honesty, and the press began to cite Burgas as a fresh voice in niche perfumery. Over the past decade he has expanded the line to include seasonal releases and limited editions, each anchored in his Mediterranean roots. He now mentors young creators and curates scent‑focused exhibitions, positioning himself as both artist and educator.

    The signature

    How Santiago composes

Burgas favors a stripped‑down structure that lets a single accord breathe. He builds around natural extracts—citrus peel, sea salt, Mediterranean herbs—then adds a subtle mineral or resin to anchor the composition. He often employs a dry‑down technique that reveals new facets after the first hour, encouraging wearers to revisit the scent. His packaging mirrors the fragrance’s minimalism, using clear glass and simple typography. By limiting the ingredient list, he highlights the purity of each note.

    Philosophy

    What drives Santiago

Burgas believes scent should echo the textures of everyday life. He listens to the wind over the Costa Brava, the scent of sun‑warmed stone, and translates those moments into fragrance. Rather than chasing trends, he follows a personal compass that points toward authenticity. He treats each formula as a dialogue between memory and material, seeking to capture a feeling without embellishment. This discipline keeps his work grounded, allowing the perfume to speak for itself instead of relying on marketing hype.
