    Niles Ramadhin

Niles Ramadhin grew up in Houston, where the hum of traffic and the scent of rain on concrete taught him that a city can wear a personality. After completing a chemistry program at the University of Texas, he spent two years assisting established perfumers in New York, learning to translate raw materials into balanced compositions. In 2021 he launched City Rhythm, a niche house that bottles the pulse of American metropolises. Within five years the brand released thirteen scents, each anchored by a signature accord that mirrors the place that inspired it. Niles built a modest studio on the outskirts of Houston, where he sketches a city’s map, selects a handful of ingredients, and mixes them on a stainless‑steel bench. His Instagram feed, followed by more than sixteen thousand fans, shows him testing accords beside street art and skyline silhouettes. The five‑year anniversary tour at Perfumology gave him a stage to explain how fragrance can lift a spirit when life pushes down. Today he mentors young creators, speaks at industry panels, and continues to expand the city‑centric concept beyond U.S. borders.

    How Niles composes

Niles works primarily with natural absolutes and modern synthetics that echo urban materials. He favors citrus top notes that flash like sunrise over skyscrapers, heart accords of leather, concrete, or wet asphalt, and base layers of amber, musk, and smoked woods that linger like city lights after dusk. In the lab he builds each fragrance layer by layer, testing on blotter strips before moving to skin. He often employs a contrast‑blend technique, pairing bright, volatile ingredients with deep, tenacious ones to achieve balance that shifts throughout the day. His preferred tools include a glass beaker, a digital scale, and a playlist of city soundscapes that keep the atmosphere focused.

    Philosophy

    What drives Niles

Niles believes that scent should act as a memory anchor, pulling a specific moment into the present. He watches a city at dawn, notes the smell of fresh coffee, the metallic whisper of subway doors, then translates those impressions into a single olfactory statement. For him the creative spark arrives when a place makes him feel both grounded and restless; that tension guides the structure of each perfume. He refuses to follow trends, choosing instead to let the geography dictate the formula. The goal is simple: craft a bottle that reminds the wearer of a street, a night, a feeling, without needing a storybook explanation.
