Bogdan Zubchenko
Bogdan Zubchenko doesn't follow trends, he started creating them. In 1993, when the concept of niche perfumery barely existed in Ukraine, Zubchenko founded BZ Parfums, becoming the country's first artisan fragrance house from scratch. His work has earned quiet respect from European colleagues who recognize his technical command and original vision. Beyond his own brand, Zubchenko creates art-perfumes for cultural projects, approaching scent as a legitimate creative medium alongside painting, music, and installation. Since 2008, he has served as chief director at Studio Pilot, where he continues to push the boundaries of what fragrance can express. With over three decades of experience, Zubchenko operates outside the celebrity perfume machine, building his reputation one carefully composed scent at a time.

How Bogdan composes
Zubchenko's compositions favor depth and complexity over linear development. He draws on classic perfumery structures while pushing materials into unexpected combinations. His fragrances tend toward rich, layered constructions that reward sustained wear, revealing different facets over time. The aesthetic suggests someone trained in traditional techniques who refuses to be constrained by them.
Philosophy
What drives Bogdan
For Zubchenko, perfume is art before it is commerce. He approaches each composition as a creative problem, seeking to translate emotion and atmosphere into liquid form. Rather than chasing marketability, he follows an inner logic that privileges originality over familiarity. His work suggests a perfumer who believes fragrance should provoke thought and feeling, not simply smell pleasant.
