Heritage
A house, in its own words
Yzkine arrived in the fragrance landscape in 2024, founded by Jeremy Puzos in France. The timing placed the house among newer entrants to an established niche market, though its positioning immediately set it apart from heritage brands measured in centuries rather than years. Houses like Houbigant (operating since 1775), Atkinsons of London (founded 1799), and The Crown Perfumery (established 1872) represent the deep-rooted tradition against which newer houses define themselves. Yzkine chose a different path, establishing its identity through contemporary boldness rather than historical weight. The founding marked a personal creative project for Puzos, who built the house around the principle of breaking with niche perfumery conventions. Rather than positioning within lineage or tradition, Yzkine staked its identity on being unconstrained by expectations. The house released its initial fragrance lineup in 2024, with Colle Nacarat and Cuir Caramelo arriving as debut compositions. Subsequent releases through 2025 and 2026 expanded the collection's range, moving from gourmand territory into more dramatic oud-focused compositions and amber-oriented scents. Each release arrived without extensive fanfare, building recognition through the compositions themselves rather than marketing narratives.
Yzkine operates on the premise that fragrance should make its presence known rather than whisper from the periphery. The house explicitly states that its perfumes belong in the home, not projected into the street, suggesting an approach that values intimate experience over broadcast performance. This positioning reflects a philosophy centered on personal connection rather than social signaling. The brand describes its approach as freeing itself from traditional niche perfumery codes, suggesting dissatisfaction with established expectations around restraint, subtlety, and conventional elegance. Instead, Yzkine gravitates toward compositions that commit fully to their olfactory propositions. For Colle Nacarat, the creative intent centers on triggering memory recall, specifically evoking childhood through fruit and gourmand accords. This suggests an understanding of fragrance as psychological trigger rather than purely aesthetic object. The house appears to view perfume as a vehicle for emotional experience, prioritizing resonance over subtlety. The philosophy extends to the house's relationship with convention itself, positioning Yzkine as deliberately counter to what the brand perceives as niche perfumery orthodoxy.
