The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Theros takes its name from the Greek word for summer, Θέρος. Vincent Micotti was commissioned by Maestro Teodor Currentzis to translate a romantic vision of summer into scent: the heat of sun on sand, the tenderness of skin under light, the sea and sky meeting. It was released in 2017 as an artistic interpretation, not a commercial fragrance.
The oud is the key. Micotti chose genuine Kyara oil from Vietnam and Laos, not the typical animalic punch of mainstream oud, but something velvety and delicate. Combined with dark chocolate, sea salt, and mineral notes, Theros creates the sensation of heat radiating from sand, the cool retreat of skin near water.
The evolution
Theros opens warm and mineral, sun-baked sand, dark chocolate, a hint of sea salt. The Kyara oud emerges within minutes, not aggressive but creamy, almost soft against the skin. The heart settles into amber and patchouli, with the mineral notes continuing to ground everything. The drydown is intimate, close, and lingers for hours on most skin types. The mineral base especially lingers, providing a warm, grounding quality that continues to radiate subtly on skin.
Cultural impact
Theros occupies a unique space in niche perfumery: oud done gently. For those who want the material without the animalic intensity, it offers an entry point that feels artistic rather than aggressive. The Currentzis connection brings a classical music dimension to its appeal for listeners.
