Valmont, the Venice-based house established in 2013, draws its creative DNA from the city's art, glassmaking heritage, and canal-side beauty. In 2020, the brand expanded its Palazzo Nobile collection with Bright Poppy, a fragrance designed to bottle the essence of Venetian sunshine. The perfumers selected three materials that mirror the city's interplay of light, water, and architecture: bergamot evoking the lagoon air, jasmine capturing garden blooms seen from passing boats, and cedarwood referencing the wooden pilings beneath the bridges.
Valmont chose this restrained palette deliberately, limiting Bright Poppy to three materials to focus attention on quality rather than layering. Bergamot from Calabria, jasmine sourced for its creamy rather than sharp character, and cedarwood selected for its dryness rather than sweetness. The house believes that three well-chosen notes communicating clearly outperforms a dozen notes competing for attention. This philosophy shows in the architecture, where each material performs a specific structural role without redundancy.
