A house, in its own words
Suassuna Parfums entered the fragrance landscape in 2020, a year that saw the release of multiple compositions under its banner, including Ruĝa Sablo, Renkontiĝo, Ruĝa Jasmeno, Imperia Mango, and Teo Rozoj. In 2021, the catalog expanded with Aŭtuna Ekvinokso, Dolĉa Aŭgusto, and Princino. The brand draws its name from Suassuna, a reference that connects to the Brazilian literary figure Ariano Suassuna, known for works that blended regional Northeastern Brazilian culture with broader humanistic and linguistic themes. The house's use of Esperanto across its fragrance titles echoes that same sensibility: a deliberate choice of a universal, constructed language to label its creative output. Little publicly verified information exists about the brand's founders or exact location, and the house remains relatively new to the wider fragrance community. Its rapid output within a single year suggests a concentrated period of creative development, with the 2021 additions continuing to build on the thematic vocabulary established at launch. The brand's creative vision appears rooted in the idea of fragrance as a linguistic and conceptual exercise. By titling compositions in Esperanto, Suassuna Parfums sidesteps the conventions of French, English, or Arabic naming that dominate most niche perfumery, instead placing each scent inside a neutral, invented lexicon. The titles themselves function as prompts: Ruĝa Sablo (Red Sand), Ruĝa Jasmeno (Red Jasmine), Aŭtuna Ekvinokso (Autumn Equinox), and Dolĉa Aŭgusto (Sweet August) evoke sensory and seasonal imagery without anchoring to a specific cultural market. This approach positions the house within a broader tradition of conceptual perfumery, where naming, mood, and composition are treated as interconnected layers of meaning. The brand seems to prioritize thematic coherence across its lineup, treating each release as part of a continuing series rather than isolated products.
