Heritage
A house, in its own words
The story begins in 2017 when Jennifer Hardaway, while researching her family tree, uncovered the name of her great‑grandmother, Phoebe Peacock. Inspired by the legacy hidden in that name, Hardaway launched Phoebe Peacock Parfum in April 2017, months before opening a physical shop. The early collection drew on classic aromatic structures but was refined through iterative testing with a small circle of friends, a process she describes as “fine‑tuning” each formula. By late 2018 the brand secured a retail space in Burbank, California, where it began to showcase not only its own fragrances but also a selection of artisanal soaps, oils, and candles. 2019 marked a creative surge; three signature scents—Water Blossom, Besame Mucho, and To Sur with Love—were released, each reflecting a distinct emotional narrative and quickly becoming staples of the line. In 2020 the shop introduced a custom perfume bar, inviting patrons to sit with a perfumer and blend a scent that mirrors their personal memory or mood. The service proved popular enough to expand in 2022 to a mobile format, bringing the bespoke experience directly into clients’ homes. Throughout its growth, Phoebe Peacock has remained anchored to Hardaway’s original mandate: “If it isn’t uniquely gorgeous, it doesn’t belong in here.” This credo continues to guide every new launch, partnership, and retail decision, ensuring the brand’s evolution feels like an extension of its founding story rather than a departure from it.
Phoebe Peacock treats fragrance as a personal narrative rather than a commodity. The brand believes that scent should echo the wearer’s lived experience, which is why it emphasizes co‑creation and intimate consultation. Hardaway’s guiding principle is authenticity; every bottle is meant to capture a moment, a place, or a feeling that cannot be replicated by mass production. Sustainability also informs the philosophy: ingredients are sourced from suppliers who practice responsible harvesting, and packaging is designed for reuse or recycling. Community engagement is another pillar; the shop hosts seasonal scent workshops, collaborates with local artists for limited‑edition packaging, and offers educational talks about olfactory history. By keeping the creative process transparent and inviting, Phoebe Peacock aims to demystify perfumery and empower customers to become their own scent curators.
