Heritage
A house, in its own words
Nutrimetics was founded in 1968 by Bill and Imelda Roche in Sydney, Australia. The brand grew out of Imelda Roche's interest in natural ingredients, reportedly inspired by her encounter with the Hunza Valley communities in the Himalayas. What began as a skincare venture soon broadened into color cosmetics and later fragrance, distributed primarily through a network of independent consultants. By the early decades of the brand's life, Nutrimetics had become a recognizable name in Australian households, and the Australian Financial Review profiled Imelda Roche as a figure at the vanguard of bringing women into the workforce through direct sales. The company extended internationally, eventually reaching markets in New Zealand, Asia, and Europe. Fragrance became a natural extension of the brand's beauty catalog, with city-themed scents like Paris (2015) and Rio (2016) joining earlier launches such as Khantor 2000. Today, Nutrimetics continues to operate under new ownership while maintaining its Australian roots and consultant-driven distribution model, a structure that has defined its identity for over five decades. Nutrimetics was built on the idea that beauty products should be accessible, results-driven, and grounded in nature. The brand's early identity centered on formulations inspired by the longevity reportedly observed among the Hunza Valley peoples, reflecting Imelda Roche's fascination with natural wellness traditions. This origin shaped a philosophy that values ingredient quality over luxury mystique, prioritizing products that feel purposeful and attainable rather than ornamental. The direct-selling model reinforces this ethos, positioning the brand as community-oriented and relationship-driven rather than purely transactional. Fragrance, while a smaller part of the portfolio, follows the same logic: scents are named after aspirational places and moods, suggesting that wearing Nutrimetics is about evoking a feeling or memory rather than signaling status. The brand's creative vision leans toward everyday glamour, where a spritz of Paris or Miami brings a touch of escape to the daily routine.
