A house, in its own words
L'Art Vévien emerged in 2024 from Hamburg, founded by Timm-Laurenz Gerhardt, a name that also surfaces as Tim O'Keefe in some early press, suggesting either a rebranding or dual identity. From the start, the maison positioned itself not as a conventional perfume label but as a creative platform bridging fine art and fragrance. The business registered as L'art Vévien GmbH and set up headquarters at Alter Wall 32 in Hamburg, while keeping production anchored in Grasse, France. The house made its public debut at International Maisons of Fine Fragrance in London in February, stepping onto the niche perfume circuit alongside established artisan houses. By August, Gerhardt brought the collection to Ireland through a partnership with Niche Skin Scent, hosting both a public discovery event and an intimate Private Founder Evening in Leixlip. The same year also marked a pivotal creative milestone: a collaboration with artist Fabian Utta yielded a limited edition release, with only 250 bottles out of a planned 950 produced, signaling a deliberate scarcity strategy. The maison continues to operate from vevien.com, building visibility through artist partnerships and curated in-person experiences. L'Art Vévien treats every fragrance as an artwork in its own right. The core belief is simple but rarely executed: perfume belongs in dialogue with the visual arts, not standing alone on a vanity. Each composition originates from a collaboration with a contemporary artist, and the resulting scent becomes an extension of their creative world. The house resists mass production, favoring limited runs that preserve artistic intent and exclusivity. What sets the maison apart is this insistence on authorship. Rather than building a house style dictated by a single nose, L'Art Vévien curates voices. Each artist brings a distinct sensibility, and the perfumer's role is to translate visual language into scent. This produces a collection defined by contrast: no two releases speak the same dialect, yet all share a commitment to beauty and intention. The brand's positioning at events like International Maisons of Fine Fragrance reinforces its identity as a house for collectors who view fragrance as cultural object, not consumer product.
