Heritage
A house, in its own words
Goldfield & Banks was founded in 2016 by Dimitri Weber, a Belgian-French perfumer who had spent years immersed in the French perfume industry before moving to Australia. Struck by the extraordinary botanical diversity he found on the continent, Weber set out to build something that did not yet exist in the Southern Hemisphere: a luxury fragrance house producing fully Australian-made perfumes. He worked alongside the world's most renowned French perfumers to develop the house's debut collection, officially launching Goldfield & Banks as Australia's first luxury perfume house. The brand quickly earned recognition from the Australian fragrance community, including nominations from the Fragrance Foundation Australia. Over the years, Goldfield & Banks has expanded its range while remaining committed to Australian production and native botanical ingredients. The house occupies a unique position in the global niche fragrance landscape, sitting at the intersection of European perfumery tradition and the raw, untamed character of Australian flora. Goldfield & Banks operates from a clear conviction: Australia's native plants offer some of the most distinctive and underused aromatic materials in the world. The house treats the continent's ancient botanical heritage not as a novelty ingredient but as a serious creative foundation. Each fragrance begins with native botanicals and is built outward with global perfumery materials, resulting in scents that feel both distinctly Australian and internationally resonant. Weber describes the brand as translating Australia's landscapes into olfactory experiences, a process that demands patience and botanical rigour. The house is not interested in replicating familiar fragrance families. It wants wearers to encounter something they cannot find elsewhere, built from ingredients that grow in Australian soil and carry the character of that specific place.
