A house, in its own words
Exteta emerged in 2020, founded by a small team of fragrance enthusiasts who shared a fascination with meteorology and memory. Rather than following the typical path of naming scents after flowers or ingredients, they looked upward, finding inspiration in the invisible currents that have guided sailors and whispered through coastal villages for generations. The brand's first collection explored three distinct Mediterranean winds: the cold gregale from the northeast, the cleansing maestrale from the northwest, and the warm scirocco sweeping in from the Sahara. This wind-centered approach distinguished Exteta immediately in a crowded market, appealing to those who wanted fragrance to evoke movement and atmosphere rather than static botanical notes. The house operates from a modest studio in Milan, keeping production intimate and decisions close to the source of creation. Exteta believes fragrance should feel like weather against the skin. Rather than presenting static compositions, the house constructs perfumes that shift and breathe, responding to the wearer's body heat and the environment around them. This philosophy stems from observing how actual wind changes character as it crosses different territories. The maestrale scent, for instance, opens sharp and marine-forward but gradually reveals warmer woodsy depths as it settles. Exteta rejects the notion of a perfect captured moment in favor of living, breathing scents that accompany their wearers through the day's changing conditions. The house works with a small stable of collaborating perfumers rather than celebrity names, prioritizing craft and conceptual coherence over marketing appeal.
