A house, in its own words
Eolie Parfums emerged in 2014 under the artistic direction of Olga Iossa, a perfumer known for treating scent as a visual medium. The brand’s name references the ancient Greek term for the wind that shapes the Aeolian Islands, a motif that guides its narrative. The first batch of releases—Le Saline, La Sciara, Ikesia and Meligunis—arrived the same year, each anchored in a specific island micro‑climate. By 2017 the house introduced Abraxas, a scent that blended volcanic mineral notes with Mediterranean herbs, signaling a willingness to experiment beyond pure marine themes. In 2020 the collection expanded with Nyx, a nocturnal portrait that paired night-blooming jasmine with smoky incense, showing the brand’s capacity to capture temporal moments. 2024 marked a prolific year, delivering Luna Blu, a lactonic vanilla composition that juxtaposes sweet caramel with a hint of grape, and Tabacco Rosa, a daring blend of tobacco leaf and rose petal that references the island’s historic tobacco cultivation. Throughout its decade, Eolie Parfums has remained independent, producing small‑batch releases that circulate primarily through boutique retailers and specialty online platforms. The house’s evolution reflects a consistent dialogue between place and perfume, with each launch adding a new chapter to its island‑centric story. The creative vision at Eolie Parfums rests on the belief that scent can map a landscape as precisely as a photograph. Iossa often speaks of assigning a colour to each perfume, a practice that translates the visual palette of the Aeolian sea, sky and volcanic rock into aromatic form. The brand prioritises authenticity, sourcing raw materials that either originate from the islands or echo their natural profile. Sustainability informs the sourcing strategy; ingredients such as sea salt, wild thyme and volcanic ash are obtained from local cooperatives that practice low‑impact harvesting. Eolie Parfums also values narrative depth, crafting each fragrance as a short story that captures a moment—sunrise over Stromboli, a moonlit walk on Lipari’s pebble beaches, or the quiet hum of the wind through dried rosemary. This storytelling ethos extends to the packaging, where colour, texture and form are chosen to reinforce the olfactory tale. The house rejects mass‑market trends, instead embracing a slow‑fashion approach that lets each scent develop a dedicated following over time.
