A house, in its own words
Corps Volatils was announced on 24 July 2020 by a group of French creators who described the venture as an "alliance of future and nature". The announcement appeared in a Fragrantica news piece that highlighted the brand’s ambition to treat perfume as a material to be studied rather than a narrative to be told. While the founders have kept their identities low‑profile, the launch was supported by a small atelier in Paris that specialized in experimental olfactory work. The first batch of ten fragrances—each named after a single olfactory concept—was released later that year and was distributed through a curated network of boutique retailers and the brand’s own online shop. In 2021 the house expanded its catalogue with limited‑edition variations that explored seasonal shifts of the core notes, reinforcing its reputation for iterative development. By 2022 Corps Volatils partnered with a certified organic farm in Provence to source lavandin and bigarade directly, marking its first documented commitment to traceable raw materials. The following year the brand introduced refill‑able aluminium atomisers, a move that aligned with broader industry efforts to reduce plastic waste. In 2024 the house opened a flagship pop‑up in New York’s SoHo district, allowing North American collectors to experience the scents in a dedicated space. Throughout its brief history, Corps Volatils has maintained a consistent narrative: perfume as a scientific discipline, presented with artistic restraint. The creative vision of Corps Volatils rests on the idea that a single aromatic molecule can sustain an entire fragrance experience. Rather than layering multiple accords, the brand isolates one dominant note and builds a supporting structure that amplifies its character without overwhelming it. This approach reflects a belief in transparency—both in the composition of the scent and in the communication with the consumer. The house emphasizes sustainability, sourcing ingredients from farms that practice biodynamic agriculture whenever possible, and it publishes ingredient lists for each release. Innovation, for Corps Volatils, means refining extraction techniques and exploring new synthetic pathways that mimic natural aromas while reducing environmental impact. The brand also values accessibility; each perfume is offered at a single price point, and the minimalist bottle design is intended to be reusable. By treating perfume as a laboratory experiment, the house encourages wearers to engage with scent intellectually, inviting them to notice subtle shifts over time rather than relying on a single olfactory impression.
