Heritage
A house, in its own words
Anne-Krystel Goyer's path into perfumery began in Provence, France, where she immersed herself in the region's deep raw material traditions and worked alongside a group of certified perfumers. This formative period in the South of France shaped both her technical understanding and her artistic sensibility, grounding the brand in the terroir of one of the world's most storied fragrance regions. Her debut, Anne-Krystel8, arrived in 2018 as an Extrait de Parfum, a format she chose deliberately to deliver depth and longevity without the markup typically associated with high-end niche houses. The launch drew attention within the Canadian niche fragrance community and established Goyer's dual identity as both Montreal resident and Provence-trained perfumer, a cross-continental perspective that continues to inform the brand. In 2020, AK47 expanded the catalog with a more daring concept, and by 2025 KICKASS arrived as the latest expression of her maturing creative voice. Though relatively young, Anne-Krystel has carved out a recognizable space among independent Canadian fragrance houses by blending Old World training with a distinctly accessible direct-to-consumer sensibility. Anne-Krystel's creative philosophy centers on the belief that serious perfumery should not be gatekept behind luxury pricing. Goyer has spoken publicly about a commitment to affordability as a core value, framing fragrance as something to be lived with rather than displayed. Her approach treats each release as a personal statement, a wearable extension of identity, rather than a mass-market product designed for broad appeal. The choice to work in Extrait de Parfum concentration reflects this ethos, prioritizing quality of materials over marketing spectacle. Goyer draws on her time studying spirituality and Eastern philosophy, weaving references to contemplative practice into her creative worldview. This manifests not as literal aromatherapy, but as an attention to how scent functions in daily ritual: grounding, evocative, quietly transformative. She resists the industry's tendency to over-romanticize luxury, instead positioning her fragrances as objects of genuine connection between wearer and creator.
