Heritage
A house, in its own words
AMOROS was founded in 2024 as a Dutch haute parfumerie house, a quiet debut in a market crowded with centuries-old institutions. From the outset, the brand chose an unexpected muse: the cultural heritage of Andalucía, that southern Spanish region known for flamenco cadence, orange blossom valleys, and a Moorish-influenced design sensibility. The choice signals something specific about the founders' intent. They wanted to build a house rooted in romance and craft while operating from the Netherlands, a country with its own rich trading history in香料 and botanical goods. The brand began sharing its work through social media, where founder and perfumer Wessel-James Kos built a following through unfiltered, educational content about raw materials and composition. That direct-to-audience approach helped shape the house's early identity as both a creative project and a conversation with fragrance enthusiasts. Within its first years, AMOROS released a core line of six perfumes, each tied to a narrative drawn from Andalucían life and landscape. The house remains independently run, with Kos credited as the nose behind the collection, positioning AMOROS as one of the more personal boutique labels to emerge from the Netherlands' growing niche scene. AMOROS treats perfume as cultural memory with a pulse. The house draws from Andalucían heritage not as costume or cliché, but as a living reference point: the heat of a Sevillian afternoon, the ritual of a glass of sherry, the layered history of a region shaped by many hands. That philosophy shows up in the storytelling around each release, where bottles arrive with atmosphere and context rather than just a name and a pyramid. The brand speaks to a new kind of niche buyer who wants authorship and emotional clarity over heritage mythology. Kos, a young perfumer who gained recognition through social media, embodies this generational shift. His creative vision privileges transparency and education, demystifying raw materials without sacrificing artistry. AMOROS is also proudly independent, choosing to grow slowly and maintain creative control rather than chasing scale. The result is a house that feels personal rather than corporate, romantic without being precious, and rooted in place without being limited by geography. It is a small operation making ambitious scents, and the conviction behind that ambition comes through in every release.
