Heritage
A house, in its own words
Afnan Perfumes was founded in 2007 in the United Arab Emirates by Imran Fazlani, who continues to serve as the company's Managing Director. The house began through direct sales and grassroots distribution in the Gulf region, building a following one customer at a time before expanding internationally through ecommerce and wholesale partnerships. From the outset, Fazlani positioned himself as both founder and creative lead, developing scents under his own direction rather than outsourcing the artistic core. This dual role shaped the brand's identity: commercially driven but personally curated. Key milestones include the company's transition from a regional direct-sales operation into a globally distributed fragrance house, the launch of its ecommerce platform, and the expansion into concentrated oil formats alongside its Eau de Parfum line. By the early 2020s, Afnan had established presence in dozens of markets across the Middle East, South Asia, Europe, and the Americas. The brand's growth has been driven largely by community and collector culture, with individual releases earning strong followings among fragrance enthusiasts who track batch numbers and reformulations closely. Fazlani's public visibility as a founder-nose remains uncommon in the Arabian fragrance industry, where many houses separate creative and business leadership. Afnan's creative vision centers on confidence and expressiveness. The brand was built on a straightforward belief: fragrance should be bold, memorable, and unafraid of making a statement. This philosophy runs through every release, from dense oriental compositions to modern gourmand and woody profiles. The house aims to make refined Arabian perfumery broadly accessible. Rather than positioning itself as an exclusive or gatekept luxury label, Afnan focuses on offering generous concentrations, strong projection, and long wear at attainable price points. This democratization of Gulf perfumery is central to its identity. Fazlani's involvement as the in-house nose gives the brand a consistent creative throughline. Each composition reflects a personal point of view rather than a committee-driven development process. The result is a catalog with recognizable stylistic signatures: rich bases, prominent ambers and musks, and a preference for compositions that announce themselves clearly. The brand also places weight on versatility across formats, producing Eau de Parfum sprays for everyday wear alongside concentrated oils that nod to traditional Arabian application methods.
