The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The perfumers Amandine Clerc-Marie and Bérénice Watteau set out to capture the yielding, almost translucent sweetness of fruit becoming something else. Their vision: femininity that doesn't announce itself, something closer to quiet joy than exclamation. From that impulse came a fragrance built on contrast, the melting, juicy sweetness of pear against the warm candied depth of marzipan, with jasmine threading through the composition to keep the whole thing from becoming pure sugar. The balance is deliberate, the execution is precise, and the result is a fragrance that invites rather than demands attention.
Jasmine serves as the quiet connective tissue between the fruity opening and the marzipan base. The transition is seamless, moving from fresh fruit to something warmer and moreish without jarring. Marzipan is the heart of the fragrance: candied chestnut in the literal sense, that warm sweetness that sits somewhere between dessert and indulgence. Vanilla is present, building as the fragrance develops without ever dominating the early moments. The structure relies on four notes working in concert, each one essential, nothing superfluous. The balance is what keeps you coming back.
The evolution
The opening is pear at its most innocent, translucent, a little green. It doesn't punch, it floats. Jasmine arrives to soften the edges, turning the sweetness from sharp to smooth. By the time the initial brightness has settled, the vanilla has begun to reveal itself and the marzipan is ready to step forward: warm, sweet, the smell of something delicious without being childish. This is where Sublimissime earns its name. The drydown is close to the skin but unmistakable, warm creaminess with candied chestnut that lingers for hours after the initial brightness has faded. On fabric, it lasts longer than on skin.
Cultural impact
Sublimissime sits within the French gourmand tradition, featuring pear, jasmine, vanilla, and chestnut, but without the niche pricing that usually accompanies this territory. The brand has the heritage to be taken seriously and a modern sensibility that keeps things from feeling dated. It's the scent for someone who knows the difference.
