    Master Perfumer

    Thomas Nipkow

Thomas Nipkow grew up in Zurich with a pharmacist’s nose and a lineage of Ritz wood carvers on his mother’s side. The family’s workshop filled his childhood with the scent of fresh shavings and the rhythm of meticulous craftsmanship. He earned a chemistry degree at the University of Zurich, where he learned to translate analytical rigor into fragrant form. After graduation he joined the Osswald Parfumerie Boutique + Facial Spa, quickly moving from assistant to lead creator. In the boutique’s intimate studio he refined six fragrances that now hold an average 7.5 rating on Parfumo. Each launch earned him praise for marrying scientific precision with the tactile elegance of his heritage. Today he mentors emerging noses and curates scent experiences for the boutique’s discerning clientele.

    The signature

    How Thomas composes

Thomas favors a minimalist architecture that lets a few high‑quality ingredients speak loudly. He builds compositions around native European woods—cedar, oak, and the rare Ritz pine—layered with aromatic herbs such as sage and rosemary. A touch of citrus lifts the opening, while a whisper of amber grounds the dry‑down. He often employs a “note‑by‑note” layering technique, adding each accord only after the previous one has settled, which yields a clean, transparent finish. His signatures include subtle metallic accords that echo the sheen of polished timber, and a restrained use of synthetics that enhance, rather than dominate, the natural palette.

    Philosophy

    What drives Thomas

Thomas approaches perfumery as a dialogue between chemistry and memory. He believes a scent must anchor a moment while inviting the wearer to explore its layers. His training teaches him to respect each molecule’s structure; his family history reminds him that scent can carve space like a piece of wood. He pursues balance, letting bright top notes dissolve into a heart that echoes the depth of a well‑polished grain. The drive behind his work is simple: to create fragrances that feel both precise and intimate, offering a quiet confidence to anyone who wears them.
