Sylvie Fischer Desuzinge
Sylvie Fischer Desuzinge inherited her craft before she ever picked up a perfume blotter. Her mother worked as a perfumer-creator, which meant chemistry runs in the family more literally than most. At 20, Sylvie interned at Robertet, that proving ground for serious noses. She landed at Takasago shortly after and never left. Thirty-five years later, she still works for the Japanese house that shaped her, having trained under Pierre Bourdon and later Michel Almairac. That kind of loyalty is rare in an industry built on movement. It speaks to something deeper: Takasago gave her structure, and she gave Takasago devotion. Her work spans mass-market signatures and more nuanced compositions, from the Beckham Intimately line to Kenzo's Couleur Rose-Pink. Sylvie does not chase trends. She builds.

The signature
How Sylvie composes
Warm woods, generous florals, and confident oriental elements define her signature. She reaches for rose and jasmine in the heart, wrapping compositions in amber and sandalwood. Her work with Beckham's Intimately Night for Men demonstrated a facility with oriental-fougere structures that have real presence. She favors clarity over confusion, building fragrances that communicate clearly even when layered. Even her commercial work carries a sense of intention. Sylvie is not interested in olfactory puzzles. She wants you to smell something beautiful and understand it immediately.
Philosophy
What drives Sylvie
Sylvie approaches fragrance as inherited language. She works within constraints to find freedom. The house demands certain parameters, but within them, she locates her creative voice. Discipline shapes her practice more than improvisation does. She believes structure allows for genuine expression, not against it. Her mentor relationships taught her that craft precedes creativity. Follow the rules long enough, and you earn the right to break them. That philosophy shows in work that feels both grounded and alive.
