Siliang Guo
Steve Guo arrived in France with a chemist's training and a perfumer's calling. Born in Beijing, he left China to pursue an education in French perfumery, earning a bachelor's in chemistry from the Université de Strasbourg before completing a master's in cosmetics, aromas, and perfumery engineering at Montpellier 2. His formal education provided the foundation, but his real education began at Galimard in Grasse, where he worked as an assistant perfumer from 2012 to 2013. He then returned to Beijing, joining Robertet's in-house perfumery school, where he trained under some of the industry's most respected noses. The work paid off: in 2017, he won the SFP International Perfumer-Creator award, a decisive moment that announced his arrival on the global fragrance stage. Today, as senior perfumer at Fine Fragrance and an active collaborator with DSM Fionish and other houses, Guo continues to build a practice that bridges Eastern sensibility with French classical technique. He brings a rare perspective to contemporary perfumery, shaped by a cross-cultural education and a deep understanding of the Chinese fragrance market, where tradition and modernity constantly intersect.

How Siliang composes
Guo's style is characterized by clean lines and modern elegance. He favors refined compositions where each ingredient earns its place, with a particular sensitivity to balance and restraint. His signature approach often involves transparent florals, precise mineral accents, and aromatic woods that provide structure without heaviness. He has demonstrated particular mastery with iris, a note that requires both technical skill and artistic patience. His work spans classical structures and contemporary interpretations, showing range across modern florals, chypres, and oriental compositions. Guo's technique emphasizes clarity and longevity in equal measure.
Philosophy
What drives Siliang
For Guo, fragrance is storytelling. Each composition must capture a moment, a memory, an emotional truth. He approaches creation with the precision of a scientist and the intuition of an artist, seeking to translate cultural narratives into olfactory language. His work prioritizes authenticity over trend-chasing, aiming to create scents that feel both deeply personal and universally resonant. Guo draws inspiration from the spaces between memory and imagination, crafting fragrances that invite the wearer to project their own experiences onto the scent.
