    Master Perfumer

    Jerry Caiazzo

Jerry Caiazzo did not stumble into perfumery. He built his way into it, one formulation at a time, over more than four decades. Today he holds the title of Vice President Perfumer at IFF, one of the world's most respected fragrance houses, where he has shaped work for the industry's most recognizable brands. His expertise lies in the discipline most perfumers speak of in reverent tones: core development. Line extensions demand a rare combination of technical precision and creative restraint, the ability to honor a brand's identity while finding fresh territory within it. Caiazzo mastered that balance early and never stopped refining it. In 2018, he earned a FIFI Award, the industry's highest recognition, taking home Consumer Choice for Men's for Coach for Men, a fragrance he co-created with Jean-Marc Chaillan. That same year, he became OnScent's Master Perfumer, lending his vision to their signature scent, OnScent One. Beyond the lab, he mentors the next generation, teaching best practices and sharing the emotional intelligence that separates good perfumers from great ones. His colleagues describe a man defined by accessibility and authenticity, someone who leads with empathy and genuine curiosity.

    The signature

    How Jerry composes

Caiazzo's signature leans toward refinement with unexpected warmth. He favors ingredients that age gracefully, accords that reveal themselves slowly rather than announce themselves at opening. His men's work in particular demonstrates a facility with leather, woods, and subtle animalic notes that never tip into aggression. His approach to line development means he excels at creating fragrance families that feel cohesive without being repetitive. Each expression carries the家族的 DNA while standing confidently on its own. Clients seek him out when they need someone who understands the commercial realities of fragrance without ever compromising the artistic integrity of the work.

    Philosophy

    What drives Jerry

Caiazzo approaches fragrance the way a composer approaches a score: every note must earn its place. He resists the temptation to show off complexity when simplicity serves better. For him, the measure of a great fragrance is not what it does at first spray, but how it behaves on skin over hours, how it makes someone feel without understanding why. He believes in texture. In an industry that often chases sillage and projection, Caiazzo quietly obsesses over how a scent feels against the skin, the way certain materials can give fragrance a weight or a buoyancy that goes beyond smell. This obsession has made him a favorite among brands seeking work that feels luxurious rather than merely expensive.
