    Beatrice Cointreau

Beatrice Cointreau carries centuries of French distilling heritage in her blood. As the granddaughter of the Rémy Martin founder, she grew up surrounded by the art of spirits, inheriting not just a family name but a deep reverence for craft and provenance. Rather than simply stepping into the family legacy, she built her own foundation across disciplines: a master's in law, studies in business at ISG in Paris, a degree in marketing, and an MBA from Cornell University. She went on to attend INSEAD and studied at leading institutions in France and California, assembling an education as global as her career would become. A certified international wine and spirits expert, she spent over four decades becoming a force in the industry while weathering profound personal challenge. After beating cancer, she turned her attention toward something new, launching ventures that carried her expertise into fresh territory. Today, as president and CEO of byBC Ventures, she oversees companies and investments across the world, bringing the same rigor she applied to understanding Rémy Martin's Grande Champagne cognacs to her broader entrepreneurial pursuits.

    How Beatrice composes

Drawing from her background in oenology and viticulture, Beatrice Cointreau's sensory sensibilities favor depth, complexity, and the interplay between earth and fruit. Her palate is trained for the layered nuance of aged spirits, where time unlocks dimensions invisible in youth. Across her ventures, she gravitates toward ingredients that carry terroir and history, using her understanding of how long fermentation and distillation transform raw matter as a lens for evaluating raw fragrance materials. Her preferences tend toward structured, character-rich components over delicate florals, though she keeps an opennose toward wherever a project leads.

    Philosophy

    What drives Beatrice

For Beatrice Cointreau, scent begins at the source. Her philosophy threads together the agricultural roots of her family with an analytical discipline learned through years of academic and business training. She understands that great spirits and great fragrances share a common language: terroir, patience, precision, and the alchemical moment when raw material becomes something transcendent. Her approach leverages four decades of sensory expertise developed in wine and cognac, translating that knowledge into ventures that honor craft while remaining adaptive to modern markets. She does not chase trends; she returns to origin.
