Ambre Bouchard
Ambre Bouchard is a French perfumer quietly redefining what independent, small-batch perfumery can look like from the south of France. Trained at ISIPCA, the Versailles finishing school that has shaped so many of the country's most exacting noses, she went on to apprentice with Maurice Roucel, one of the most instinctive perfumers of his generation. That mentorship left a mark: a fascination with raw materials at their most essential, and a willingness to let an ingredient speak before structure takes over. She has been composing since 2008 and is currently based in Montpellier, where she joined Flaïr Studio in 2020 as a perfumer. Her work moves between intimate scale and ambitious material choices, a balance she has refined through more than fifteen years of practice. Independent by design, she explores singular olfactory territories far from the beaten path, building a body of fragrance one carefully textured composition at a time.

How Ambre composes
Bouchard builds fragrances through unexpected textural contrasts, balancing rich and weightless materials to create compositions that feel alive on the skin. Her work favours essential oils handled with respect, allowing their natural complexity to carry the structure. She leans toward compositions that read unisex yet carry a feminine current, often weighted toward evening wear and bold statement bottles. Citrus, gourmand warmth, and fresh sweetness appear in her palette, arranged to create tension rather than comfort. The throughline is precision: each material earns its place, and each accord is calibrated to provoke a reaction as much as to please.
Philosophy
What drives Ambre
Bouchard's creative signature lies in texture. She treats composition less like a painting and more like a sculpture, shaping how a fragrance feels against the skin as much as how it smells in the air. Her work aims for the intimate and the provocative in equal measure, an approach that rejects safe, easily categorised accords in favour of something more tactile and surprising. Drawing on her early fascination with essential oils, she privileges raw materials with character and lets them breathe within the structure rather than burying them under familiar constructions. The result is perfumery that asks to be worn close, experienced slowly, and remembered.
