    Alessandro Olmo

Alessandro Olmo grew up among the barrels and vines of a family winery in Northern Italy, where the scent of fermenting grapes taught him early how memory lives in aroma. He earned a master’s degree in chemistry before moving to Grasse, where the Institut de Perfumery refined his scientific rigor into artistic instinct. In 2011 he completed the prestigious Student Perfumer program, a gateway that led him to Givaudan’s Baierbrunn laboratory. There he shifted from raw material research to cross‑category consumer products, crafting scents that bridge personal care and fine fragrance. A breakthrough arrived with the launch of Eternal Sunrise, a tribute to ancient Egypt that paired smoky incense with luminous citrus, earning praise from niche collectors. Today Olmo balances corporate collaboration with independent side projects, always tracing his compositions back to the terroir of his childhood.

    The signature

    How Alessandro composes

Olmo’s signature technique blends precise analytical layering with an instinctive sense of balance. He often builds a base of mineral amber or smoked woods, then lifts it with bright citrus or herbal accords harvested from his Italian travels. Natural absolutes—bergamot from Calabria, neroli from Sicily, and Tuscan rosemary—appear alongside synthetics that add depth without overwhelming the composition. He favors a slow‑drydown structure, allowing the heart to reveal itself after the opening fades. In many of his projects he introduces a subtle gourmand twist, a hint of caramelized sugar or toasted almond, that nods to the sweet residues of his winery upbringing.

    Philosophy

    What drives Alessandro

Olmo’s creative compass points toward places that hold personal resonance. He believes a perfume should act as a scented archive, preserving a moment, a scene, or a feeling for later recall. The winemaking roots of his youth inspire him to treat raw materials like vintages, letting each note mature before blending. He favors a disciplined yet playful process: a laboratory test, a field trip to a Mediterranean herb garden, then a quiet evening tasting the emerging accord. Sustainability and authenticity guide his choices; he seeks ingredients that are traceable and respects the ecosystems that produce them. The result is a body of work that feels both grounded and luminous.
