The grapefruit kept, the vanilla amplified, the amber brought in to anchor the whole thing. The opening grapefruit arrives bright, cold, and sharply citrusy, that metallic quality threading through the top notes. As the scent settles, the amplified vanilla adds a warm, slightly creamy presence that builds depth in the heart.

Amber Xtreme is the structural decision worth understanding. Unlike traditional amber accords built from labdanum, vanilla, and benzoin, this synthetic aromatic chemical replicates the diffusion and presence of ambergris, that ancient, oceanic material once used in grand masculine compositions. Prada's choice to use it isn't cost-cutting. It's an architectural move: Amber Xtreme projects further and lasts longer than natural amber materials, which means the base of Luna Rossa Ocean holds its shape for six to eight hours rather than fading into skin silence by hour three. The grapefruit opening arrives bright and stays for the first thirty minutes. Then frankincense takes over the heart.

The opening hits clean. Grapefruit, cold and sharp, the kind of citrus that smells like salt on metal. Thirty minutes in, the frankincense arrives, not heavy, not churchy, but present enough to shift the temperature from bright to serious. The woody heart sits in the middle for roughly two hours, neither overwhelming nor disappearing, before the vanilla begins to surface. By hour three, the amber is doing its work.
