Heritage
A house, in its own words
Viktoria Minya established her fragrance house in 2011, becoming what multiple sources describe as the first Hungarian woman to build her own perfume brand. Her path into perfumery began with formal education in Grasse, the French city long regarded as the center of modern fragrance creation. While studying there, she encountered the legend of Eau de la Reine de Hungary (The Queen of Hungary's Water), a legendary elixir believed to date to the 14th century. The story stayed with her and eventually informed her own interpretation of Hungarian perfumery heritage. Her debut fragrance, Hedonist, launched in 2013 and subsequently expanded into an entire collection. The line grew to include Hedonist Rose (2014), Hedonist Iris (2014), Hedonist Cassis (2015), and later Absolute and concentration variations of these core scents (2019). Beyond her commercial work, Minya maintains an instructional role, teaching at GIP Grasse and the École Parfum Cosmétique, institutions that anchor Grasse's identity as a training ground for perfumers.
Minya approaches perfumery as an art form grounded in classical technique. Her work reflects the principles instilled during her education in Grasse, where she learned to build fragrances through structured composition rather than trend-driven formulation. She has spoken about discovering the Queen of Hungary's Water legend while still a student, finding resonance in the idea of perfume as something with deeper historical and cultural resonance. Her Hedonist collection demonstrates a commitment to exploring single ideas through multiple olfactory interpretations. Rather than targeting seasonal appropriateness or demographic preferences, she creates variations that examine the same scent concept from different angles, using concentration shifts and ingredient variations to reveal new dimensions. This methodical exploration of fragrance territory reflects her academic background and ongoing role as an educator.
