Heritage
A house, in its own words
Santa Lucia was started by the team behind TeachingMensFashion, a men's fashion and lifestyle channel that built a following through styling advice, grooming recommendations, and fragrance commentary. The brand's name reportedly draws inspiration from the patron saint of light, a fitting reference for an enterprise born from creators who spent years illuminating style choices for their audience. According to a listener who attended a brand discussion with founders Manuel and Julia, the pair have spoken publicly about the brand's origins and the motivation to move from reviewing fragrances to creating them. The debut collection arrived in 2021 with Come Closer, Everyday, and To Conquering, followed by a 2022 expansion that added Azabache, Love, and Gala to the catalog. The brand later introduced a Dark Collection, signaling a creative pivot toward more nocturnal, heavier compositions while still appealing to the YouTube-savvy fragrance consumer who followed the founders from their earliest style videos. Santa Lucia approaches fragrance as an extension of personal identity, treating scent the same way the founders treated clothing and grooming on their channel: as tools for self-expression that should be accessible and unintimidating. The brand seems to operate on the belief that fragrance discovery should feel conversational rather than gatekept, a philosophy inherited directly from the TeachingMensFashion community that shaped its early audience. Rather than positioning itself as a legacy perfume house, Santa Lucia leans into its creator-driven origins, using video storytelling and direct audience engagement as core parts of how it introduces new scents. The Dark Collection in particular reflects a willingness to explore heavier, more polarizing territory, suggesting the founders view their catalog as a creative space rather than a formula to repeat.
