Heritage
A house, in its own words
Sabrina Carpenter grew up in Pennsylvania with an unusual olfactory landmark near her childhood home: a chocolate factory. She has spoken about waking up to the smell of fresh chocolate wafting through her neighborhood, a sensory detail that would eventually become the foundation of her fragrance brand. In 2022, Carpenter partnered with Scent Beauty to launch her first fragrance, Sweet Tooth by Sabrina Carpenter. The collaboration with Scent Beauty gave her access to industry expertise while allowing her to maintain creative control over the direction. She worked with Firmenich, one of the world's largest fragrance houses, to develop the debut scent. The partnership proved fruitful enough that Carpenter has continued expanding the line, releasing follow-up fragrances that extend beyond the original gourmand concept into territory like coffee notes. Carpenter's background as a singer and actress means the fragrance brand benefits from her established relationship with a large, engaged audience. Rather than simply slapping her name on a existing formula, she has been actively involved in the creative process, describing the experience of building her signature scent in interviews. The brand's growth from a single debut fragrance to a multi-fragrance collection reflects Carpenter's willingness to experiment and her understanding that her audience wants variety.
Carpenter approaches fragrance as something intimate and personal, not performative. The Sweet Tooth launch was rooted in her own perceived gap: she wanted a fragrance that smelled like her ideal sensory experience and couldn't find it, so she created it. This self-directed logic shapes the brand's philosophy. The fragrances do not try to signal status or belong to a particular fragrance family for marketing purposes. Instead, they follow Carpenter's genuine preferences, which skew toward sweet, cozy, and indulgent notes like chocolate, vanilla, and coffee. The brand name itself, Sweet Tooth, signals unapologetic pleasure. Carpenter has described the creative process as deeply collaborative with her perfumers, bringing her personal memories and taste preferences into every formulation. The philosophy also embraces playfulness. The brand world is bright, fun, and accessible, rejecting the hushed reverence that sometimes surrounds luxury fragrance. Carpenter wants people to enjoy scent without intimidation. The expansion from the original Sweet Tooth into new fragrances suggests an evolving philosophy that treats the line as a living project rather than a fixed identity.
