Heritage
A house, in its own words
Sterling Perfumes, the parent company behind Armaf, was established several decades ago in the United Arab Emirates with a stated commitment to quality and innovation in fragrance creation. The Armaf brand was launched to fill a specific niche in the regional and international fragrance market, offering concentrated perfume alternatives to designer originals. The Oros line emerged as the brand's premium tier, representing its most ambitious olfactory work. Oros Pour Homme arrived in 2014, marking one of the house's earliest entries into the ultra-premium concentrated fragrance category. The following year, 2015, saw the debut of Oros Oud, a statement scent built around the prized agarwood note. The collection subsequently expanded to include multiple flankers and variations, with The Inventor series representing some of its most complex compositions. Armaf, through Sterling Perfumes, has built its reputation by reverse-engineering popular designer fragrances and creating original bold compositions, with Oros standing as the pinnacle of that portfolio.
Oros operates on a philosophy of democratizing luxury in scent. Rather than positioning itself as a heritage perfume house with centuries of tradition, Armaf's Oros line takes a direct approach: create perfumes that smell unmistakably expensive, last for hours on the skin, and remain accessible to a broad audience. The philosophy prioritizes impact and longevity above subtle artistry. Each Oros fragrance tends toward bold, assertive character profiles, often built around dominant notes like oud, leather, or rich florals. The house appears to view fragrance as a form of self-expression that should not require a four-figure price tag, which shapes its approach to concentration levels, sillage, and projection. Rather than pursuing avant-garde or minimalist compositions, Oros gravitates toward crowd-pleasing richness that translates across different markets and preferences.
