Heritage
A house, in its own words
The Ministry of Gourmand series emerged from Aroma Concepts LLC, a small collective that has long championed niche perfumery. Around 2020 the team decided to explore the growing appetite for edible‑inspired fragrances, a trend that had been bubbling in indie circles for years. The first collection launched with three core scents, each named after a classic dessert element, and quickly found a home in the Ministry of Scent store on Valencia Street, San Francisco. By 2021 the line expanded to include seasonal releases that paired well with coffee roasts and tea blends sold in the same shop. Social media played a key role; a TikTok series hosted by Saúl in 2023 showcased the brand’s playful side and helped it reach a broader audience. In 2024 Ministry of Gourmand secured placement in several curated online boutiques, cementing its reputation as a go‑to source for gourmand lovers who appreciate a refined, approachable aroma. Throughout its growth, the brand has stayed rooted in the indie ethos of discovery, keeping production small enough to maintain quality while allowing room for creative experimentation.
Ministry of Gourmand believes scent should echo the comfort of a favorite treat without overwhelming the wearer. The house treats each note as an ingredient, balancing sweetness with structure so the perfume feels like a whisper of vanilla or caramel rather than a cloying blast. Its creative vision leans on the idea that gourmand aromas can be both playful and sophisticated, suitable for daytime wear and evening gatherings alike. By focusing on familiar flavors—crisp apple, toasted almond, warm cinnamon—the brand crafts pieces that feel instantly recognizable yet layered enough to invite a second sniff. The team avoids gimmickry, preferring to let the chemistry of the ingredients speak for themselves, and they aim to create scents that sit comfortably alongside a coffee cup or a slice of cake, enhancing everyday moments rather than demanding attention.
