A house, in its own words
Benjamin Esposito founded House of Mammoth in 2018 in New York. He started his creative path by crafting handmade soaps, an origin that shaped his tactile, ingredient-first approach to scent long before the brand released its first perfume. Esposito serves as both founder and perfumer, which means every composition traces back to a single artistic sensibility rather than a committee. The house gained attention for its willingness to tell unconventional stories through fragrance. Sonder Draw, a collaboration with perfumer (and name), marked an early milestone, signaling that Mammoth could attract outside creative voices while keeping Esposito at the center of the project. Subsequent releases like Snippid, an imagined narrative about a random leaf told from primordium to true leaf and beyond, showed a house comfortable building concept-led work rather than chasing seasonal trends. The brand also expanded into luxury wet shaving goods, giving the Mammoth name a presence in the bathroom cabinet as well as the fragrance wardrobe. From the beginning, a portion of proceeds has gone toward organizations fighting human trafficking, weaving social purpose into the commercial structure of the house. House of Mammoth describes itself as making wearable art for an absurd world, rooted in connection and attention. That phrase captures the brand's broader conviction that fragrance is a form of storytelling, not a commodity. Esposito builds each release around a narrative idea, whether that idea is a shared human experience, an imagined life cycle, or a specific emotional memory. The house embraces a philosophy of radical transparency about materials, process, and intent, which appeals to collectors who want to know what is in the bottle and why it is there. Mammoth rejects the idea that independent perfumery has to imitate the scale or vocabulary of major houses. Instead, the brand treats each launch as a small, finished statement. The result is a catalog that feels curated rather than cumulative, with fragrances designed to live alongside one another as part of a larger creative world.
