Heritage
A house, in its own words
GOLF le FLEUR began as a personal style project from Tyler Okonma, the rapper, producer, and creative director known professionally as Tyler, the Creator. Founded in 2019 as a more elevated offshoot of his earlier streetwear label Golf Wang (launched in 2011), GOLF le FLEUR started with premium apparel and accessories and quickly grew into a fuller fashion and beauty label. The brand launched in the United States in 2021, and by June 2022 had expanded internationally, with Europe eventually accounting for roughly one-third of its direct-to-consumer business. Distribution through select stockists like Dover Street Parfums Market helped introduce the label to a global audience that follows Tyler's every creative move. Fragrance arrived as a new chapter in the brand's story. Marketed under the Season 4 banner, French Waltz became the first scent to carry the GOLF le FLEUR star, signaling that the label was ready to express its point of view in a new medium. The release was covered by fashion and fragrance outlets alike, reflecting the crossover audience Tyler commands: part streetwear fan, part music listener, part perfume curious. While the fashion side of GOLF le FLEUR has concluded with a final drop announced in recent years, the fragrance arm reflects the same instinct that shaped the label from the start: make something personal, make it well, and let the audience find it. GOLF le FLEUR has always been about taste as autobiography. Tyler, the Creator built the brand as a way to externalize a very specific aesthetic sensibility, one rooted in vintage references, saturated color, and a kind of refined irreverence. French Waltz extends that philosophy into scent. Where the apparel line treats clothing as a wearable mood board, the fragrance treats skin as the same canvas. The creative vision is personal rather than aspirational. Tyler is not chasing the legacy of a Parisian maison or trying to fit into existing fragrance categories. He is building a world that smells the way his music sounds: warm, textured, and unmistakably his. That point of view matters because it shifts the audience relationship. Buyers are not purchasing a heritage story passed down through generations. They are stepping into a creator's mood, one shaped by Tyler's references, his humor, and his instinct for contrast. The result is a brand that treats fragrance as another instrument in the creative toolkit, equal to a beat, a garment, or a color palette.
