Heritage
A house, in its own words
Gloss Moderne began as a passion project from Kuen Rameson, a Southern California based founder who identified a gap in the market for haircare and beauty products that felt genuinely indulgent without relying on ingredients she considered unnecessary. The brand launched initially in the haircare category, building a following for its high shine treatment oils and silkening products before gradually extending into adjacent categories. Fragrance became a natural extension of the brand's point of view, with the company positioning perfume as another vehicle for the same sensory experience its haircare customers had come to expect. Over time, Gloss Moderne has grown from a single product line into a multi category clean beauty house, maintaining its family rooted identity even as the assortment has expanded into candles, room sprays, and a full fine fragrance wardrobe. The partnership with an established 18th century fragrance house in Grasse, France, represents the brand's deepest investment in its scent category, giving Gloss Moderne access to generations of compounding knowledge while keeping its own creative direction centered in California. Gloss Moderne operates on the belief that clean formulation and luxury feel are not mutually exclusive. Kuen Rameson has described the approach as 'clean luxury,' a framework that prioritizes ingredient transparency and sustainability without sacrificing the sensory pleasures of texture, scent, and packaging. The brand's creative vision treats fragrance as an extension of personal style rather than an afterthought, with each scent designed to layer into a broader lifestyle narrative that includes haircare, skincare, and home ambiance. This holistic thinking reflects a wider shift in beauty, where consumers increasingly expect coherence across the products they use daily. Gloss Moderne's willingness to extend beyond a single category, from treatment masks to perfume oils, suggests a founder who views beauty as a continuous ritual rather than a series of isolated purchases.
