The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The name carries intention. Proud of You, not boastful, not performative. Recognition earned, then worn quietly. Fragrance World built their identity on exactly this kind of self-made confidence, starting from Deira's trading stalls to presence in 150+ countries. This fragrance translates that ethos into scent: leather that's been worn, not displayed. The name becomes permission, to carry something rich without needing to prove anything to anyone.
What makes this composition hold together is the chestnut. Not a common opening note, it brings an edible, almost roasted quality that reads sweet without sugar. Counterbalance comes from elemi, a resinous material with a citrus edge that keeps the top from cloying. Then the cool herbs arrive. Lavender and sage don't fight the warmth, they sit beside it, creating the aromatic leather character that defines the fragrance's middle act. The real work happens in the base: leather, guaiac wood, vanilla, and agarwood. Four materials that could overwhelm each other. Instead, they arrive in stages, wood first, then vanilla softening the leather's bite, then oud adding smoke that lingers into the next morning.
The evolution
The opening announces itself with chestnut, sweet, nutty, slightly smoky. Elemi cuts through with a citrusy resin that keeps it from sitting too heavy on the skin. Thirty minutes in, the herbs take over. Lavender and sage arrive in sequence, cool and green, transforming the fragrance from edible warmth into something more aromatic. The transition isn't dramatic, it's a slow exhale. Then the leather surfaces. Not the sharp, aldehydic leather of classic masculine scents. This one is warm, almost creamy, grounded by guaiac wood. Vanilla extends the warmth without sweetness. Oud lingers. On skin, expect the leather and vanilla to persist for 6-8 hours, intimate and close. On fabric, the base notes can still be detected the next morning, the smoky residue of a worn leather jacket.
Cultural impact
Proud of You Leather has found its audience within the aromatic leather category, where wearers appreciate a composition that prioritizes warmth and wearability over projection. The 2024 launch places it in a market where leather fragrances have made a sustained comeback, and the chestnut-vanilla drydown offers a point of differentiation from more traditional leather compositions.
