Heritage
A house, in its own words
Fogg entered the Indian personal care market in 2011 under Vini Cosmetics, a company headquartered in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. At a time when the deodorant category in India was dominated by aerosol sprays sold at premium price points, Fogg introduced a compressed, gas-free spray format. This allowed the brand to position a noticeably larger fragrance volume per unit at an accessible price tier. The launch coincided with one of the most recognized advertising taglines in Indian personal care, "Kya chal raha hai? Fogg chal raha hai" (What's going on? Fogg's going on), which became a fixture in television and digital advertising throughout the mid-2010s. This campaign, paired with a rapidly expanding distribution network in general trade and modern retail, helped Fogg capture a significant share of the Indian deodorant market within a few years of launch. By the late 2010s, Fogg had expanded its lineup to include named editions like Royal, Napoleon, Imperial, and Master Agar No Gas Deodorant, most released around 2019. The brand also extended beyond men's grooming, introducing women's variants under the Fogg Scent of Goddess line. International expansion followed, with the brand entering markets in the UAE, South Asia more broadly, and eventually the United States. Fogg's approach centers on a straightforward equation: maximum fragrance, minimum filler. The brand's core philosophy is built around giving consumers a tangible sense of value, both in how long a bottle lasts and in how much actual scent is delivered per spray. This is operationalized through the no-gas format, which uses compressed liquid rather than aerosol propellant, allowing the can to contain a higher proportion of fragrance concentrate. Rather than positioning itself as a luxury or artisanal label, Fogg targets the practical reality of daily grooming in warm climates. Its fragrances are designed for high humidity, long workdays, and repeated application without the cost anxiety that aerosol users often carry. The brand's communication has consistently reflected this utility-first stance, emphasizing longevity, spray count, and boldness of scent over abstract notions of sophistication. This philosophy extends to segmentation. Fogg produces distinct product lines for different use occasions, price sensitivities, and gender preferences, with each line built around a clear functional promise rather than a mood or lifestyle concept. The result is a brand that competes on clarity of purpose rather than prestige.
