Heritage
A house, in its own words
Essential Faith traces its origins to Venice, California, in 2006, where founder Reagan Weber launched what would become one of the early cult-favorite American perfume oil brands. The original scent, simply called the Original, was the brand's debut and remains a cornerstone of the line. Originally, the product was sold under the name Faith, but a trademark registration conflict forced a rename to Essential Faith, a detail noted by independent perfume commentators reviewing the brand's early history. By the early 2010s, Essential Faith had grown from a Venice-local experiment into a product distributed across multiple retail locations throughout the United States. The brand marked its 20th anniversary in 2025 (per its own social channels), reflecting two decades of continuous operation in a category that has seen significant turnover. Over the years, the lineup expanded from the original single-oil concept to include Aura (2018), Bliss (2022), and the signature Essential Faith scent (2016), giving the brand a small but intentional catalog. Reagan Weber has remained the public-facing president and creative lead throughout, continuing to oversee a business that began as a personal passion project rooted in a love story, according to the founder's own interviews. Essential Faith's creative vision centers on the idea that fragrance should feel personal and alive, reacting with each wearer's unique skin chemistry rather than sitting static on the surface. The brand describes its oils as clean and evolving, a philosophy Weber has reiterated in interviews and on social media. The approach is intentionally minimal in palette, favoring a tight catalog of made-to-order oils over a sprawling release schedule. This restraint reflects a belief that quality of formulation matters more than volume, and that small-batch production allows for a closer relationship between maker and customer. The brand's voice, casual, warm, and unpretentious, mirrors its Venice, CA roots, embracing bohemian accessibility rather than the rarified language of traditional perfumery. Weber has framed Essential Faith as a labor of love from the start, positioning the oils less as luxury commodities and more as personal signatures meant to be worn daily.
