Heritage
A house, in its own words
The story of Boyd's of Texas begins in 2016 when Dennon Couron launched Boyd's Farm as a beauty-focused retail business. The husband-and-wife team noticed customers responding positively to the scents of their skincare products, which prompted exploration into dedicated fragrance creation. This customer feedback reportedly sparked the transition from general beauty products to natural perfumery as a primary focus. By 2018, the brand had rebranded to Boyd's of Texas and released its first set of natural fragrances including Cuero, TX Lavender, High Desert, and Green Vetiver. The following year brought Yellow Rose, a fragrance drawing from Texas cultural symbolism tied to the Battle of San Jacinto. The company operates from a studio in San Antonio, where they maintain in-house production capabilities across their product range. Rather than pursuing industry trends, the founders prioritized creating fragrances they genuinely loved, a philosophy that continues to guide the brand's development. The evolution from Boyd's Farm to Boyd's of Texas reflects a deliberate narrowing of focus toward natural perfumery as a distinct craft discipline. The founders of Boyd's of Texas operate from a straightforward premise: create fragrances they genuinely love rather than chasing market trends. This approach shapes every aspect of their work, from ingredient selection to final formulation. The brand positions itself as fundamentally different from conventional perfume houses by working exclusively with natural materials and maintaining complete creative control over the process. Their messaging explicitly rejects the cycle of seasonal launches and trend-driven development common in the fragrance industry. Instead, the focus remains on intimate, personal scent experiences that resonate with the creators themselves. The studio setting in South Texas grounds this philosophy geographically, tying their creative output to a specific place and its sensory landscape. Education plays a secondary role in their mission, with demo workshops teaching the fundamentals of natural perfumery to those interested in understanding the craft. The husband-and-wife dynamic influences decision-making, bringing complementary perspectives to product development. This personal, hands-on approach extends to how customers experience the brand, with workshops and studio interactions offering insight into the making process.
