Heritage
A house, in its own words
The story of Al Musbah Perfumes began in the early 1970s in Saudi Arabia, specifically in the city of Makkah. Sources vary on the precise founding year, with 1973 appearing more consistently across multiple product pages and the company's own rebranded LinkedIn presence, which references over 40 years of experience since founding. The company initially operated as a wholesaler of international perfume brands sourced from Europe and the United States, distributing these products within the Saudi market. This early phase gave the founders deep familiarity with global fragrance trends, ingredient qualities, and consumer preferences before they decided to create their own perfumes. As the business grew, Al Musbah transitioned from distribution into manufacturing and retail, eventually establishing its own perfumery division. The brand became part of Al Musbah Group (AMG), a network of companies operating across diverse sectors in Saudi Arabia. In 2019, the perfumery arm underwent a rebrand, emerging as ALMUSBAH BLEND while retaining the heritage and craftsmanship built over decades. The house continued releasing new fragrances throughout the 2010s and 2020s, including Portfolio Imperial Oud (2018), Obsessive Oudh (2018), Incense Oud (2017), Platinum Oud (2021), and several entries in the Oud Ultra Violet family (2024). The brand's history reflects the evolution of Middle Eastern perfumery from importing and retailing international products to establishing homegrown fragrance houses capable of competing on a global stage.
Al Musbah approaches fragrance creation through the lens of Arabian perfumery traditions, where oud holds a central position in the olfactory canon. The brand builds compositions around this precious resinous wood, layering it with complementary notes drawn from both Eastern and Western perfumery palettes. Rather than pursuing a single aesthetic, the house explores diverse directions while maintaining a recognizable core identity rooted in richness, depth, and warmth. The philosophy prioritizes authentic materials and craftsmanship that honor the cultural significance of perfume in Gulf societies, where fragrance plays roles in personal identity, hospitality, and spiritual practice. Al Musbah collaborates with perfumers from different backgrounds to introduce varied interpretations of their house style, resulting in fragrances that range from traditional and solemn to contemporary and playful. The brand's rebrand to ALMUSBAH BLEND in 2019 signaled an intentional evolution, suggesting a desire to modernize presentation and reach broader audiences while preserving the heritage that defines the house. This balance between tradition and innovation shapes decision-making across the portfolio.
