Truong Chieu Sy
Truong Chieu Sy grew up amid the bustling streets of Ho Chi Minh City, where the scent of street food and incense mingled with the rhythm of daily life. After completing a chemistry degree at the University of Science, he apprenticed under several local artisans, learning the delicate balance between raw material and emotion. In 2018 he co‑founded Silhouette Parfums, a boutique house that quickly earned a reputation for daring compositions. By 2022 his work appeared on international scent panels, and a fragrance he crafted placed among the finalists of the Art and Olfaction Awards. Today he splits his time between the lab and his studio, where he sketches ideas before translating them into scent. His career reflects a steady climb from curious student to respected creator, each step marked by a willingness to test unconventional ingredients.

How Truong composes
Sy favors a structural approach that begins with a single anchor note—often a vegetal green or a mineral accord—then builds layers that echo the anchor’s texture. He frequently incorporates Vietnamese ingredients such as lemongrass, kaffir lime, and rice husk, pairing them with avant‑garde synthetics that add depth without overwhelming the natural core. His signatures include crisp, airy openings that dissolve into warm, resinous middles, and finishes that linger like a whispered after‑thought. The result is a clear, purposeful scent that feels both contemporary and rooted in his cultural heritage.
Philosophy
What drives Truong
Sy treats each bottle as a conversation between the material world and his inner narrative. He believes that scent should mirror thought, allowing a perfume to become a visual sketch rendered in aroma. Rather than following trends, he follows curiosity, seeking out rare isolates and emerging synthetics that spark a personal response. For him, the creative spark ignites when a single note triggers a memory or an emotion, and the rest of the composition serves to amplify that feeling. This mindset drives him to experiment relentlessly, turning laboratory trials into intimate expressions of self.
