Sherri Sebastian
Sherri Sebastian grew up in Pittsburgh with a nose she didn't know she was sharpening, moving from Love's Baby Soft and Jean Nate to the polished benchmarks of Estée Lauder and Calvin Klein long before she could name what she was doing. The instinct turned professional after a Food Science degree at Penn State, where chemistry met flavor and the idea of scent as a craft began to take shape. She cut her teeth at a flavor house in Brooklyn, then crossed the Atlantic to apprentice with a sixth-generation winemaker in Europe, an education in patience and terroir that still informs how she builds a formula. In the late nineties she came back to the United States and took a seat beside a master perfumer as an apprentice, completing what she calls her classical training. Three decades in, she now leads Sebastian Signs Fragrances and is the founder of the independent clean beauty brand Provision Scents. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Independent Perfumers Guild and was selected by the Institute for Art and Olfaction, recognition that places her among the serious independents shaping American perfumery.
