Mesha Munyan
Mesha Munyan grew up in Santa Barbara, California, rooted in the agricultural legacy of a pioneering family. For twenty-five years, she cultivated and distilled lavender cultivars and a range of herbs, developing an intimate understanding of botanical sources from soil to essence. Her expertise in evaluating lavender essential oil quality led her across multiple countries, where she became a recognized authority in the field. In 2013, she launched Meshaz Natural Perfumes in Seattle, bringing her singular perspective on natural materials to a wider audience. She studied under Mandy Aftel at Aftelier, refining her approach to botanical perfumery. The recognition of her "Lavender Sommelier" educational program in 2017 solidified her standing as a educator as well as a creator. As an IPF Certified Natural Perfumer and Distiller, she continues to bridge the gap between agricultural practice and artistic perfumery.

How Mesha composes
Lavender sits at the center of Mesha Munyan's aromatic world. Her work draws heavily from the herbs she has grown for decades, creating fragrances that feel rooted in a specific landscape. She favors the authentic, unadorned beauty of natural materials over constructed effects. Her style is characterized by clarity and transparency, with compositions that move from fresh and green into more nuanced territory. She prefers to work with materials she understands completely, often distilling her own ingredients to maintain absolute control over quality. This grounded approach produces scents with a sense of place that feels both personal and distinctive.
Philosophy
What drives Mesha
Mesha Munyan approaches fragrance creation as a dialogue with nature. She believes each botanical material carries its own story, and her role is to listen carefully and let that narrative unfold. Her decades of growing and distilling lavender gave her a patience that infuses her work, allowing materials the time they need to reveal their true character. She favors a restrained hand, letting natural ingredients speak for themselves rather than overwhelming them with technical intervention. This philosophy shapes every composition she creates.
