    Master Perfumer

    Gregorio Sola

Gregorio Solà grew up in Spain, where his scientific curiosity led him to study chemical engineering before he pursued specialized training at ISIPCA in Paris and the École de Parfumerie in Versailles. He joined Puig nearly two decades ago, rising to become Senior Perfumer and Creative Director at the house. In that time, he has shaped the fragrance identity for several major fashion and lifestyle brands, including Antonio Banderas. Solà recently moved beyond commercial fragrance with a striking project: collaborating with curators to translate historical paintings into scent, inviting museum visitors to experience art through smell. His work bridges the gap between perfumery and cultural heritage, earning him a seat as an Academic at the Academia del Perfume.

    How Gregorio composes

Solà brings an engineer's precision to his compositions without sacrificing artistry. His classical French training at ISIPCA gives his work a natural sense of structure and proportion. He favors intentional contrasts, pairing warm woods with crisp citrus or grounding sweet florals with aromatic herbs. He rarely chases trends, preferring instead to refine familiar accord types until they feel genuinely new. The result is fragrance work that feels both grounded and alive.

    Philosophy

    What drives Gregorio

For Solà, perfume is never about ingredients alone. It is about memory, emotion, and the story a scent tells when it meets skin. He approaches each fragrance as a narrative challenge, beginning with the feeling he wants to evoke rather than the formula. Solà builds a fragrance from concept to material, letting a central idea guide every decision until the story feels complete. He believes the most lasting fragrances are those that make people feel something specific, something personal, and irreplaceable.
