    Ezra-Lloyd Jackson

Ezra-Lloyd Jackson arrived in perfumery through an unexpected door. Trained as an artist, he discovered fragrance design while working at Theatre Peckham, where he crafted scent as narrative, building immersive environments for live performance. That experience at the intersection of art and olfaction led him to Olfiction, the respected London fragrance studio founded by perfumer Pia Long. Since 2018, Jackson has climbed from lab operator to fragrance assistant to independent creator, a trajectory that reflects both his technical hunger and his conceptual ambition. He has spoken openly about the early days of his fragrance education, when he noticed how rarely Black and brown bodies appeared in industry materials and conversations. Rather than wait for permission, he built his own laboratory in South London, a bucket-list achievement that now serves as his creative base. At Silloria, we celebrate perfumers who refuse to wait for the industry to make space. Ezra-Lloyd Jackson made his own.

    How Ezra-Lloyd composes

Jackson's work shows the marks of his multidisciplinary background. He gravitates toward materials with emotional resonance, often drawn to green, botanical, and slightly feral notes that evoke living landscapes. Trackside Buddleia, one of his more widely noted creations, captures wildness and intimacy in the same breath. His palette suggests someone who notices plants growing through pavement, who finds beauty in neglected corners. Technically, he trained in a professional studio environment under established practitioners, giving him grounding in classical structure even as his conceptual instincts push elsewhere. He is still early in his commercial career, which means his style remains in active formation. That feels right for someone who came to perfumery by following curiosity rather than convention.

    What drives Ezra-Lloyd

Jackson treats scent as storytelling. Having spent formative years designing environments for theatre, he approaches fragrance the way a director approaches a stage: every element must serve the narrative. He has spoken about mentorship as essential to his development, crediting the Olfiction community with accelerating his growth in ways he never anticipated. He believes perfumery should reflect the full spectrum of human experience, not just the narrow demographic that traditionally dominated it. This conviction shapes not just his creative choices but his presence in the industry. He creates because he must, and he creates for people who have too rarely seen themselves reflected back.
