    Master Perfumer

    Cristian Cavagna

Cristian Cavagna moves fluidly between roles. He evaluates, creates, educates, and consults. He runs his own label Private Mood while serving as creative director for other perfume houses and contributing as a fragrance content creator. His Italian roots inform a sensibility rooted in craft and aesthetic rigor. He built expertise through years at the Perfume Academy in Italy, where he continues to teach and mentor emerging talent. That combination of hands-on training and institutional knowledge shaped his multidimensional career. He did not arrive at perfumery through a single gate. His collaboration with Arturetto Landi brought wider recognition. Their partnership produced Musa Paradisiaca, a 2021 fragrance that became a cult conversation piece for its unusual banana-tuberose construction. The work signaled a shared appetite for bold material choices and unconventional storytelling through scent.

    The signature

    How Cristian composes

Cavagna gravitates toward challenging materials and unexpected combinations. His work with tuberose runs deep, appearing across multiple projects as a recurring study. He treats ingredients like Musa Paradisiaca's banana leaf not as novelty but as legitimate aromatic material deserving serious development. His signature technique involves balancing rich floral structure against green or gourmand counterpoints. Cotton Candy demonstrates a different register, capturing sweetness without retreating into cartoonish territory. The hands-on evaluator in him ensures each creation holds together structurally.

    Philosophy

    What drives Cristian

For Cavagna, fragrance evaluation and creation exist in conversation. He approaches composition as both critic and maker, testing ideas against his trained nose and refined palate. This dual perspective drives work that surprises without feeling arbitrary. He believes in fragrance as communication. Each composition carries intention, whether exploring a single ingredient like tuberose across multiple iterations or constructing a narrative around banana leaf and celery as top notes. He does not chase trends. He builds from conviction.
