    Badr Harqan

Badr Harqan grew up in Manfouha, one of Riyadh's oldest districts, where fragrance is woven into daily life rather than reserved for special occasions. That early immersion planted seeds that would later bloom into something more deliberate. In 2010, he left Saudi Arabia for France, enrolling in formal studies that combined perfumery with chemistry and natural extraction techniques. The scientific grounding gave him structure; the perfumery training gave him language. He spent years mastering both before releasing anything under his own name. The breakthrough came almost by accident: while developing a fragrance called Hitman, an unexpected outcome produced what he called Hitman Mistake. He recognized its worth immediately, bottling the happy accident and sharing it with a small audience. Word spread quickly, particularly through his active presence on social media, where he now commands a following of over 230,000 on Snapchat alone. Badr represents a newer generation of Middle Eastern perfumers who trained internationally but remain rooted in their own olfactory traditions. He works independently, building his brand slowly and on his own terms.

    How Badr composes

Badr's style favors boldness without excess. He builds fragrances with clear architectural intent, layering intensity with restraint so that each element has room to register. His technical background in chemistry and extraction shows in how he handles raw materials, particularly naturals, extracting their essence without flattening their complexity. He's drawn to ingredients with cultural significance in the Gulf region, especially the Taif rose, which appears in multiple creations including his Taif Rose edition. Coffee represents another signature interest, lending depth and edge to compositions. His work tends toward the dramatic but remains wearable, designed for someone who wants presence without performance. The Hitman line demonstrates this balance, combining assertiveness with a certain sophistication that rewards close attention. He's not interested in subtlety for its own sake, but he also avoids the loudness that comes at the expense of craft.

    Philosophy

    What drives Badr

Badr approaches fragrance creation with the conviction that some of the best work happens when you stop trying to control everything. The story of Hitman Mistake, born from a miscalculation during Hitman's development, isn't just an anecdote for him. It reflects a genuine philosophy: stay open to accidents, recognize what works, and have the confidence to share it. His creative process honors intention, but it also leaves room for surprise. He draws energy from the tension between discipline and spontaneity, between what he plans and what emerges. For Badr, perfumery is personal communication rather than commercial calculation. He creates what moves him first, trusting that authenticity resonates with others who share similar sensibilities. This belief keeps him working independently rather than pursuing mainstream distribution deals that might dilute his voice.
